Last barrel recovered

Very positive conclusion at the end of the salvage operation

Yesterday, the last of 155 identified barrels was recovered from the bottom of the Trave River. This means that the last piece of wreckage known to the salvage team has been secured and the underwater work has been fully completed. The salvage vessel St Perun will be dismantled today and leave Lübeck on Tuesday or Wednesday.

From the archaeological side, the conclusion is very positive: the work was completed on time and without incident, and impressive results were achieved. Besides the well-preserved and previously unknown stern with equipment from the cabins, it is the hitherto unknown construction that may be considered sensation.
