Here we go!

Start of salvage work on Lübeck's Hanseatic ship

Since the beginning of the week, the work has already been in full swing: the specialists from Archcom, together with the archaeologists from the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and with the support of employees from the Lübeck Port Authority, have prepared everything for the salvage of the Hanseatic ship. The diving vessel is loaded, the diving equipment is checked and the documentation container is set up. After a safety training, the underwater archaeologists board the vessel to set off in the best weather to the site off the Stülper Huk. Around noon, the vessel reaches the position and lets its two spud legs slide into the Trave bottom. The ship is now firmly anchored, more like an island from which the diving work can be optimally carried out. In the afternoon, the first diver jumps into the water. He checks the site and starts to set up an underwater measuring system that will be needed for later documentation. The second diver, who follows the first, also works on the measuring system. This marks the end of the first of many diving days.
