Ship skeleton 3D

Wreck reveals its interior

The model shows the condition of the wreck after removal of the keelson and inner planking. Clearly revealed is a very large number of closely spaced frame parts, divided into floor timbers and futtocks. This observation suggests that the ship was built bottom-based. In this construction method, in contrast to the skeleton construction method, the shell is first formed from planks, keel and stern before the frames are inserted. In the skeleton construction methodwhich requires more planning, its the frames, i.e. the "skeleton" of the ship, who define the shape of the hull.
